...about Piano Bouquet - Songs for My Father (from the CD liner notes)
My father was 15 when he enlisted in the Navy. He retired twenty years later after serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He took with him many of these songs. My dad was fortunate. He came home and had a good life. Many young men did not. My husband’s father was killed in action in France during WWII just days before my husband’s first birthday.

In the small town I grew up in I knew so many families deeply affected by these times. Their stories are bittersweet; their memories are not all good, but they are not all bad either. There is incredible strength and resilience in the generation that preceded us. This strength is reflected in the music of this generation that has the power to take us away to far off places and times; it’s more than music. These songs are reminders of a passionate era gone by but not to be forgotten.
